Dear CNSPY Members,
Following
the successful panel on “Working for the Federal Government: Scientific Careers
in Defense”, the Career Network for Science PhDs at Yale (CNSPY) is excited to
announce a unique networking opportunity sponsored by Dr. Wendy Hall from the
US Department of Homeland Security. Selected participants will visit Washington
D.C. where Dr. Hall will host and pilot them through:
-
individual or paired networking sessions with science PhDs working for the
government, to get a better understanding of jobs for scientists in policy.
- a
policy debate on a relevant issue that we will prepare in advance for, under
the guidance of Dr. Hall.
- a
seminar/workshop on understanding policy briefs and meetings.
- and if
we are very fortunate, a chance to sit in on a policy meeting at the White
House.
Organizing
this highly immersive opportunity to experience science policy at work, is a
labor, time and fund-intensive endeavor and therefore, will be undertaken only
if responses to this survey indicate a reasonable level of interest. If you
would like to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity, please fill out this
survey by October 6th: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/K69J2NF .
Application forms and other information will be emailed directly to interested
candidates.
Thank
you.
