Mentor: Dr. Jim King, principal scientist at Boehringer Ingelheim (BI). 
Bio: As a scientist in the Immunology and Inflammation department at Boehringer Ingelheim (BI), Dr. Jim King’s focus is on developing linkages between therapeutic targets and diseases such as Crohn’s Disease and Lupus.  In this role, he works closely with colleagues in the therapeutic area, medicinal chemistry, therapeutic antibody discovery, translational medicine and medicine to advance drug concepts (molecules and targets) through BI's pipeline.

Flu-Block Party - Saturday Dec 7th

1. It’s a Flu-Block Party! Saturday, December 7th, 10am-2pm at 875 Research Parkway in Meriden. Radio 104.1 will be broadcasting live. There will be free food, fitness demos, exhibits and prizes. Meet Blaze, the Connecticut Sun-WNBA mascot. Wayne Hachey, DO (Colonel, U.S. Army, ret.) will tell us about his experience with public health in Afghanistan. Flublok vaccinations will be available.

Virtual Biotech – The Journey & Lesson’s Learned


We are delighted to have Dr. Paresh Soni as our speaker this month. He will take us on a journey of a small biotech taking an idea to market.

Paresh Soni, MD, PhD, was until recently Senior Vice President and Head of Development at Amarin Pharma Inc., where he led the development team that submitted the NDA and subsequent approval of Vascepa® for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia. Prior to that, Paresh was at Pfizer where he held a number of leadership roles in Pfizer Global Research and Development in both experimental medicine and late phase development.
